On Monday, September 23 the Village Board approved the contract to move forward with the Central Business District (CBD) streetscape and utility improvement project. The result of the Phase II will be a set of construction ready drawings. Underground utility work will begin in 2021 and streetscape work is anticipated to being in 2022 and conclude in 2023.
As part of the project, new festoon lighting was recently installed at Shock’s Square, located in the downtown just east of Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. This new lighting is one of several sample demonstrations across downtown showcasing what is possible during the Village’s upcoming streetscape and utility improvements project.
The downtown streetscape and utility improvement project will address the roadway, sidewalk and underground utility needs, as wells as ADA compliance issues throughout downtown. The last major widespread CBD rehabilitation project was completed in the mid-1980’s.
