Downtown Walking Tour
To help kick off the Village’s streetscape improvement project, Village staff, the consultant team, and the Steering Committee did a walking tour to spark ideas and gain insights. Here are some general takeaways from the event:
- Increase opportunities for outdoor recreation and greenery, including outdoor restaurant seating, pocket parks, planters, and more green spaces. Consider amenities such as music and wi-fi and ongoing issues regarding maintenance and mature trees.
- Trade-offs were identified particularly around proposed improvements (bike facilities, expanded sidewalk space) versus adequate and accessible car parking.
- The streetscape should help current businesses thrive, reinforce past planning efforts, and support proposed development and redevelopment.
